The Fulton Avenue Association successfully renewed the District for another 5 years on August 10, 2023, by a wide margin. In our Renewal Campaign, which began in January of this year, we asked owners for a 5 year term, a 10% assessment increase in 2024 and another 3% increase in 2027. We appreciate such a high level of owner confidence and look forward to continuing to revitalize, promote, clean-up and keep this important business community safe. Sacramento is now in the ORANGE TIER

On June 1, 2021, the Sacramento County Health Order was updated to reflect that Sacramento County is now in the State’s Orange Tier 3.

Although the State of California is slated to expire the colored-tier structure for counties on June 15, 2021, some of the major advantages of moving from the Red Tier 2 (substantial) to the less restrictive Orange Tier 3 (moderate) now are:

Restaurants can have 50% capacity indoors instead of 25%.
Events are opening back up (indoor and outdoor) with capacity limits. If all attendees show a negative COVID-19 test or their vaccination card, more people can attend.
Bars, where no meals are served, can open outdoors.
Indoor swimming pools can open.
More youth sports and adult recreational sports are now open, including basketball, football, ice hockey, lacrosse, rowing/crew, rugby, soccer, water polo and more.
Cardrooms and satellite wagering businesses can open indoors.

The County’s June 1 Health Order is effective immediately until it expires at 12:01 a.m. on June 15, 2021, unless rescinded or amended in writing by the Health Officer prior to its expiration. Our Health Order includes the CDPH face-covering mandate that requires all people in California to wear face coverings when they are outside of the home, with specific exemptions.

Vaccinations remains our most powerful tool to end the pandemic. If you haven’t been vaccinated or need your second dose, it is safe, easy, and free to everyone to protect yourself as well as your friends and loved ones from the COVID-19 disease. As we approach Thanksgiving, many people are trying to figure out how they will celebrate this year’s holiday season, compared to years past. EMD has released guidance for Holiday Events and Gatherings to assist the public in celebrating this holiday season safely and minimize the spread of COVID-19. This document includes guidance for family gatherings, organizational events and information on the latest travel advisory. See EMD’s website for industry specific guidance and additional resources.

Due to the rise in COVID-19 cases across the state, the California Department of Public Health issued a Limited Stay-at-Home Order this afternoon requiring non-essential work, movement and gatherings to stop between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m. in counties in the Tier 1 (Purple). This order will apply to Sacramento County and takes effect at 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21 and will remain in effect until 5 a.m. on Dec. 21.

It's Smooth Cruising in the Fulton Business District

We hope you are all enjoying the new and improved overlay as you drive up and down Fulton Avenue! After a long wait for this improvement, and many months of traffic delay and congestion, you can now cruise to our favorite Fulton Avenue destination, and to work or home on a smooth and quiet surface.The overlay material used in this project is rubberized asphalt concrete (RAC), also known as asphalt rubber or just rubberized asphalt, is noise reducing pavement material that consists of regular asphalt concrete mixed with crumb rubber made from recycled tires.This product was the #1 choice of the Fulton Avenue Association and the Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SacDOT) for it's internal and external noise-reduction and recycling qualities.

Many thanks go out to all of the businesses on Fulton Avenue, for getting through this difficult, but much needed improvement project with such grace and understanding. Additionally, we would like thank Supervisor Susan Peters and the Leadership at SacDOT for their enduring support of this project; as this project could have slipped down the list of County transportation priorities without their watchful eye. And last, let's all "Tip our Hard Hats" to Teichert Construction for their good work, efficiency, collaborative abilities, attention to detail and management of a tight timeline.

Fulton Avenue Association Construction News

The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SacDOT), and Teichert Construction have completed paving Fulton Avenue between Arden Way and Marconi Avenue. Monday night, a crew will be working from Edison Avenue, to Auburn Boulevard. Next week, the Teichert crew will be securing manholes, checking on finish work, and prepping for striping. Striping may begin next week, or the following week. While there will be some lane closures to ensure worker and traffic safety, the traffic flow and congestion should be much better come Monday.

The Sacramento County Department of Transportation (SacDOT), and Teichert Construction will continue paving the OUTSIDE lanes Monday, May 7 at 6:30am until 4:30pm and will begin paving the INSIDE lanes Tuesday through Friday. This roadwork will be very challenging for traffic and businesses as the crew will need to move slowly and precisely as they pave. Congestion, delays, and temporary access and egress interruption is unavoidable. One lane will be closed in each direction while this work is being done.We apologize for this inconvenience, but it is critically important that safety for all concerned be the priority. Please plan accordingly during these days. We highly recommend that you take alternate routes next week as much as possible.

Fulton Avenue Overlay-Arden Way to Auburn Blvd.

Roadwork commenced on the Fulton Avenue Overlay Project: Arden Way to Auburn Boulevard in September 2017. Completed improvements include:

Removal and replacement of failing asphalt pavement on Fulton Avenue
Installation of curb, gutter, and sidewalk on Fulton Ave to provide sidewalk continuity
Signal modification/upgrade and new sidewalk ramps at the intersection of Fulton Avenue and Edison Avenue
Improved vehicle and bicycle detection with the use of detection cameras at the intersections of Fulton Ave/Arden Way, Fulton Ave/Alta Arden Expressway, Fulton Ave/Cottage Way, Fulton Ave/El Camino Ave and Fulton Ave/Marconi Ave
Sidewalk reconstruction at bus stops
Median reconstruction

Due to temperature restrictions, the rubberized asphalt overlay cannot be placed until the spring when temperatures will be more favorable. The contractor has winterized the project area and they will return for approximately four weeks in spring 2018 to complete the following:

Conform grinding and paving
2” Rubberized asphalt overlay

WEEK 11 of Fulton Avenue Roadwork

HAPPY THANKSGIVING GREETING

The Roadwork on Fulton Avenue is near completion for the 2017 Calendar year.

Over the next week, the construction will slowly cease as Teichert Construction and SacDOT "button up" our overlay project on Fulton Avenue for the Winter. Most of the pre-work has been completed, and all of the ADA work has been finished, paving the way for the rubberized asphalt overlay the Avenue will receive in early Spring 2018. The asphalt work will take approximately 8 working days to complete in March or April.

The rubberized asphalt is WORTH THE WAIT! This special street product will ensure a minimum of 15% less interior and exterior decrease in noise for those who work, play, and travel along Fulton Avenue in their vehicles.

The Fulton Avenue Association is GRATEFUL for your patience, and wishes you all a very Happy Thanksgiving. The Future is BRIGHT on Fulton Avenue!

WEEK 9 of Fulton Avenue Roadwork

WHAT TO EXPECT November 9 through Thanksgiving 2017

The County of Sacramento Department of Transportation (SacDOT), and Teichert Construction will begin "grinding" the asphalt on Fulton Avenue next week through Thanksgiving. The grinding vehicle will move slowly beginning northbound at Arden Way and then return southbound. The grinder will interrupt access and egress to properties as it moves along. There is no way to avoid the temporary disruption. Please be patient until it passes and moves along to the next property. Teichert Construction highly suggests that power washing of vehicles in the early morning hours should be rescheduled to later morning hours during this time to avoid having to remove any dust that may make its way to cars parked close to the sidewalk. We have been assured that no harmful debris will reach the vehicles (small pebbles or pieces of asphalt).

WHAT TO EXPECT October 29-31, 2017

The County of Sacramento Department of Transportation (SacDOT), and Teichert Construction will be working on intersection signal upgrades/cut-ins at Edison, El Camino and Cottage. This work requires that traffic signals be operational on BLINKING RED. This interruption is very challenging for traffic, and traffic congestion is unavoidable. We apologize for this inconvenience, but it is critically important that safety for all concerned be the priority. Please plan accordingly during these days. The overlay work will begin soon, with some work being done at night, which will help to ease daytime congestion quite a bit. Updates will continue to be sent weekly.

ATTN: Car Dealerships, PLEASE ADVISE YOUR DELIVERY COMPANIES NOT TO OFFLOAD in the median during construction. Offloaders during construction pose great danger to themselves, one-lane traffic flow, and to nearby construction workers. This is currently NOT happening, and off-loaders are making it difficult for traffic as a result. PLEASE speak to your delivery companies and have them off-load on side streets, where possible.

WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT WEEK - October 1st through October 6th

The County of Sacramento Department of Transportation (SacDOT), and Teichert Construction will continue their ADA curb, gutter and isolated driveway work on Fulton Avenue between Arden Way and Marconi Avenue. WHAT TO EXPECT NEXT WEEK - SEPTEMBER 24th THRU SEPTEMBER 28th

The County of Sacramento Department of Transportation (SacDOT), and Teichert Construction began the Fulton Avenue Overlay Project on September 7th. This project includes substantial ADA concrete repair work: curb, gutter and isolated driveways, on Fulton Avenue between Arden Way and Edison Avenue. During this first phase of the total project, lane closures are necessary in one or both directions on Fulton EACH WEEK DAY from 7:30am to 4:00pm. This work will continue from Arden to Edison until approximately October 19th. The overlay on the Avenue will commence on or after that date.

If you are a Car Dealership, and regularly have vehicles delivered to your site via an offloading truck, PLEASE ADVISE YOUR DELIVERY COMPANIES NOT TO OFFLOAD in the median during construction. Offloaders during construction pose great danger to themselves, one-lane traffic flow, and to nearby construction workers.

On Saturday, October 7th, Fulton Avenue, between Marconi Avenue and Cottage Way will be Host to CruiseFest 2017, northern California's Premier Auto Cruise and Show. From 2:30pm to 7:30pm that day, Fulton Avenue will be CLOSED to through traffic between Marconi Avenue and Cottage Way! You will receive a separate communication regarding this event on Monday of next week.

Fulton Avenue Overlay Phase 2

Arden Way to Auburn Boulevard

Construction of Fulton Avenue Overlay Phase 2 Coming Soon!
Construction will begin shortly on Phase 2 of the Fulton Avenue Overlay Project: Arden Way to Auburn Boulevard. Planned improvements include:

Removal and replacement of failing asphalt pavement on Fulton Avenue including a two-inch rubberized asphalt concrete overlay.
Infill curb, gutter, and sidewalk will be constructed to provide sidewalk continuity within the project limits.
Striped, on-street bicycle lanes within the project limits.
Signal modifications and new sidewalk ramps at the intersection of Fulton Avenue and Edison Avenue.
Bicycle detection at all traffic signals.
Sidewalk reconstruction at bus stops.

Project Update
Sacramento County has awarded a construction contract to Teichert & Sons, Inc. Construction is scheduled to begin in early September 2017, with completion anticipated in November 2017. The total construction cost is $3,866,298.

During construction, one through lane in each direction will be maintained at all times and two through lanes in each direction will be maintained during the morning and evening rush hours. Access will be maintained to all residences and businesses during construction. Pedestrian and bicycle access will also be maintained.
